Ron Wood was one of the first players of these guitars. 1983, ESP replacement parts were offered in the USA out of a loft on 19th Street in New York City. 1983/1985, ESP luthiers started building custom guitars out of this location for NYC players. 1989, ESP moved its operations to 48th Street.. Every time I come back to NYC I visit 48th street, and every time a store disappears. Last June I couldn't believe…Manny's was gone. I still remember once back in 2002, I was there with a friend who then bought a terrific PRS. We spent the whole day playing guitars in those stores. Do you guys remember "48th street custom guitars"??. The 48th St. Custom Shop took over the previous operations there of Silver & Horland (originally from Warren St. near City Hall), and was Terminal Music before that in the 70's. We Buy Guitars was across the street. The 48 St. Custom shop was run by extraordinarily talented Japanese luthiers. So top notch Japanese craftsmanship was at the heart.
